Balaam house is a private residence on a urban site which is designed
in harmony with surroundings and the weather in the region. It is built
with using zinc aluminium, concrete, rich timbers and raw battening.
Even though this combination of materials isn’t quite usual for other regions
it’s very popular in warm countries.
Besides capturing river views from different sides, the house
also has an awesome private garden which is great play area for children
and to relax around a fire pit. Another unique feature of the project
is cantilevered pool which provides an eave for the main entrance
with its showpiece, glass end.
Even though the house hasn’t typical modern design, in this region
it looks quite modern. Like many other houses in Australia it also
implements “green” and saving technologies like rain water harvesting, solar hot water,
passive “heat stack” cross ventilation, solar control glass and so on.
